Ιs called the thermal insulation of a building’s external facades. In essence the thermal facade is an insulating / protective mantle that surrounds the building’s facades to protect it from exposure to extreme temperature conditions and adverse climatic factors.
THERMAL FACADE ADVANTAGES
• Offers perfect façade protection from climate conditions
• Excellent thermal insulation which means reduction of heating cost and air conditioning and prevention of condensation and mold.
• Taking advantage of wall thermal capacity
• Aesthetic renovation of the house
• Increase of the thermal comfort of the residents
• Transfer of the condensation point and frost from the wall to the thermal insulation layer
The main parts of an external thermal insulation / thermal facade are:
1. Thermal Insulation
It is the most important and central part of the system. In Greece expanded polystyrene (EPS) and extruded polystyrene (XPS) are mainly used with appropriate standards.
2. Reinforced base layer
The main component of this layer is facade alkaline glass mesh
3. The final decorative layer
There is a variety of grain size, texture and color options that can meet the needs of any architect. The trend today is to use an acrylic plaster in paste form.
The cost of the thermal facade depends on the requirements of each project. This means that it depends on the size of the walls of your house and the thickness of the insulation material.
INTERNAL THERMAL INSULATION
The primary benefit from installing the proper thermal insulation system in a house, is in minimalizing heat exchange between the internal and external environment, providing the necessary resistance to heat flow and transfer, thus reducing heating cost and improving the residents’ environment.
Thermal insulation is achieved by installing the insulating material on the inner side of a wall and protecting it by a solid structural material (eg. plasterboard) that works as the inner coating.
The internal house insulation is a relatively economical procedure that is completed at a fairly high speed. It costs less than the external insulation because the materials are not exposed to the risk of damage by weather conditions. However, internal insulation doesn’t provide the best quality results for the thermal insulation of the house.
