The factors that determine which type of roof insulation best fits the needs of a building are based on the age of the building, the state of the existing insulation, the use of the roof as well as the available budget. Attention must be paid to the materials used, regardless of the chosen method.
The following are the basic roof insulation categories:
Conventional Roof Insulation
Provides a complete system of thermal insulation and water proofing, with a low construction weight, requiring mild use of the roof.
Inverted Roof Insulation with Industrial Flooring
Used when the roof is fully used and if there is a perspective of installing vertical elements (photovoltaic, solar water heater, pergolas)
Inverted Roof Insulation with Tiles
When thermal insulation and water proofing are required on a roof with existing slopes for water drainage but with limited use of the roof.
Inverted Roof Insulation with Gravel
An economical solution for thermal insulation and water proofing on a roof with existing slopes for water drainage but without the possibility of using the roof.
Creating a Cold Roof (Cool Roof Systems)
Used when immediate protection from high temperatures and heat is needed along with the full use of the roof.
